Bail is not possible in the Mokgwathise murder case, according to the Chief Justice advices.

Chief Justice Gaolapelwe Ketlogetswe has advised Clifford Nonofo Nthebolang against pursuing bail, saying the offence of which he was convicted, the murder of gospel artiste Mosimanegape “Morse” Mokgwathise, does not attract a suspended sentence.

jkNthebolang had filed an application for bail pending finalisation of the matter before the court.

However, the Chief Justice told the convict that the best outcome he could expect was a custodial sentence.

Justice Ketlogetswe said the convict could not be granted bail pending the hearing of mitigation, extenuating circumstances and sentencing.

Nthebolang, along with Mokgwathise’s wife, Yvonne, and Phemelo Thekoetsile, was convicted of the murder of the gospel artiste at Mogojogojo on 9 March 2015 after acting together and in concert.

The court heard that the deceased was found dead behind a pit latrine at his home with a wound under his left armpit. It appeared he had been stabbed with a sharp object.

In its findings, the court said Yvonne had been planning to kill her husband for some time after developing hatred towards him, and that she eventually found the two men who were willing to carry out the killing.

The case will be mentioned on August 19 pending finalisation of the court records, and the hearing of mitigation, extenuating circumstances and sentencing.
