BPOPF Assets Grow 10 Per Cent Despite Market Pressures
The Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) has recorded a strong financial performance for the year ending March 2026, with its assets growing by 10 per cent despite a challenging global economic environment.
Speaking at a media briefing this morning, BPOPF Board Chairperson Ms Gaone Macholo said the performance demonstrates the fund’s commitment to prudent management, transparency and accountability to its members.
Ms Macholo said the fund navigated a difficult year characterised by geopolitical uncertainty and slower global market growth, but maintained stability through sound investment strategies.
The fund’s assets increased from P116.506 billion in 2025 to P128.337 billion in 2026, representing a 10 per cent growth.
Ms Macholo has attributed the fund’s positive returns for the year ending March 2026 to a diversified investment portfolio and strong risk management processes.
She said diversification enabled the fund to mitigate risks and remain resilient despite volatile global markets.
The BPOPF’s financial health, she said has been strengthened by prudent investment decisions, effective governance and rigorous risk management.
