A 41-year-old Ledumang Senior Secondary School teacher appeared today before Magistrate Tshepo Magetse of the Broadhurst Magistrates Court on a charge of defiling a student.

Kedikilwe Balisi is accused of having, on or about October 20, 2025 at Ledumang Senior Secondary School, had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 18, contrary to Section 147(a) of the Penal Code, Cap 08:01 of the Laws of Botswana.

The court granted him bail in the sum of P2,000 with two sureties in the like sum, after the prosecution indicated it would not oppose bail.

Balisi, who is represented by Mr Chabuya Lowani, was ordered not to report to school pending a social worker’s assessment of the safety of the school environment. The social worker is expected to submit a report to the court.

The matter has been postponed to August 5 for mention.
