Lucara Presenta 1,305.4-Carat Diamond To President Boko

Lucara Botswana Managing Director, Ms Naseem Lahri today presented a 1,305.4-carat rough diamond recovered at the Karowe Diamond Mine to President Advocate Duma Boko and Cabinet.

The stone is the tenth diamond above 1,000 carats produced by the mine since operations began.

Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo, said the diamond industry was showing signs of recovery following the temporary expiry of the United States’ 10 per cent import tariff. She said the development means diamonds would enter the American market duty-free.
