Murder incidents under investigation in Boteti
Police are investigating two separate cases of suspected murder-suicide in Boteti over the weekend.
Acting Letlhakane Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Gothusang Lepii, said a 17-year-old Letlhakane Senior School student was found dead with severe head wounds at Nkosho ward in the early hours of Sunday.
He said police received a report around 3am and found the girl lying in a pool of blood, suggesting a sharp object was used. She was certified dead on arrival at Letlhakane Primary Hospital.
Supt Lepii said the 45-year-old suspect was later found hanging from a tree along the Khwee-Letlhakane road.
Preliminary investigations indicate the man was allegedly in a relationship with the victim’s mother.
Meanwhile, Orapa Police Station Commander, Superintendent Constance Lethogile, said they were also investigating the death of a 21-year-old woman from Mokoboxane village on Saturday.
Supt Lethogile said the woman was found with deep stab wounds. Investigations indicate she was allegedly killed by her 28-year-old boyfriend from the same village, who was later found hanging from a tree.
Police investigations into both matters are ongoing.
